Posted by Richard Cox My new system has a custom designed muffler in the engine box and the exhaust is routed under the port sette to the sail locker. The water cooling tower is mounted on the bulk head in the sail locker and the exhaust exits in the original manner. Not only did this solve my exhaust problem, but it also resulted in much more room in the head. I believe I have the engineering plans for the old replacement stand pipe arrangement if you would like them. --Previous Message--

My Yankee 30 MK III had the same type exhaust system in the head. It had failed previously, water from the system leaked into the engine, and a re-engineered system was installed. Unfortunately, while much care was taken in the new system, it was of the same design. To counter the problem of water leaks, two valves were installed so the water could be drained, but water still drained into the engine. After some expensive engine repairs, I had a new system designed.
