Posted by Norm Also, there seems to be a hinged panel attached to the stove enclosure...for more working space? How is it propped up when in use? As to under the cockpit, you're right, there is a ton of space.. the challenge is to organize it. From what I've seen so far on my boat, a wheel steering mod should be pretty easy....or as easy as anything is on a boat. --Previous Message--

Steve,
You have a beautiful boat. I like the new and improved layout. The removal of that partial bulkhead just forward of the companionway, (with the two support posts), really opens up the saloon.
Question: In the picture of the bilge, there is a cable bundle attached to the port side of the bilge..how are the clamps attached to the fiberglass? Also, what make/model of bilge pump are you using? Looks like a nice fit.

: My fuel tank is under the v-berth and came
: from the factory that way. I have two
: batteries. One mounted in the engine box on
: the port side of the engine. That's my
: starting battery. My house battery is in
: the bottom of the cabinet under the
: electrical panel, just to port of the
: companionway steps. There are photos of
: Amigo that show where I'm taking about here:

:
: I've also seen a battery on the shelf you
: mention.
:
: Have you thought about all of that space
: under the cockpit. With no tank under there
: you've got all kinds of space for something.
: Just poor access.

: I'm starting to have some respect for the
: Atomic 4. When I spun it up (without
: starting it), the compression was
: 60-70-120-80. I don't believe the 120
: reading..I think the gauge is off. After a
: shot of Marvel's Mystery Oil in each
: cylinder, and resting for a couple of days,
: I started the engine and ran it for about 15
: seconds. After shutdown I rechecked the
: compression and found all cylinders to be
: with 2 pounds.
:
: Now my question: Where do you folks mount
: the batteries? I want to install 2 group
: 31's. There's only two places that seem to
: make sense...under the aft dinette settee,
: or aft of the companion way steps. There are
: two shelves there, which would reinforcing,
: but a nice fit for group 31 battery boxes.
: Any thoughts?
:
: I plan to mount new AC and DC power panels
: above the dinette...where are yours located?
: Does this location work ok?
:
: My fuel tank is in the V-berth...is this an
: owner mod? I think under the cockpit is a
: better location...any thoughts?
:
: Like other posters...the iceboxes are a
: mystery to me. The port one requires leaning
: over the stove to get something from
: it...doesn't seem too practical. But I can't
: think of a better use for the space. I am
: thinking of moving the stove to a spot
: forward of the sink. This wipes out two
: berths I know, but sure would provide a
: better gallley. If I do this, then maybe a
: proper nav station in the old stove location
: would work, as well as being a better spot
: for the new power panels. Now the old icebox
: becomes a large pencil holder..
:
: Any and all thoughts and comments welcome.
