Yankee 30 Message Board
Posted by Richard Cox I became interested in Yankees after I looked at a 26 here in Marina del Rey. I believe I know the one in Oxnard and if so, the crazing in quite extensive. Depending upon the quality of the work you demand, the gel coat repair can be quite expensive. The one I saw in Oxnard would probably need at least one or two coats of primer after sanding and filling. Mike Parker and I used the same shop and the work was outstanding. Other cheaper jobs I have seen began to deteriorate after a couple of years. Mine still looks like the day it was finished after more than two years. The Yankee 26 is a nice sailboat. If I did not own a 30, I would want a 26. --Previous Message--

The Vire engine is a two-cycle engine rated at 7 hp. If you used one of the search engines and type Vire Engines you will find a home page of Vire engine owners and info re the engine.
: I have located a 1974 Yankee 26 for sale in
: Oxnard, CA but the seller says there is a
: great deal of crazing in the gelcoat, mostly
: on the topsides. How difficult is this to
: repair? Also the boat has a Vire7 inboard
: gasoline engine (Finland) which has not been
: fired up for a year. Has anybody had any
: experiences with these engines?
: Thanks,
