OK, it's not that much of a debut: it's not as if Worship Central's Tim Hughes, Al Gordon or Ben Cantelon are newcomers to all this. As some of the key writers who have collaborated on this brand new project from Worship Central they bring a wealth of experience, insight and skill to the table. There's nothing novice about it.
'Lifting High' is a bold new venture from one of the most progressive streams of worship currently flowing through the Church of today. Collaborative, congregational and properly Christ-centered, the collection of fourteen songs reflects the very best of Worship Central – a school of worship from Alpha International that has trained tens of thousands of worship leaders through events on three continents since launching in 2006.
As for the reason why, Tim Hughes explains what drives Worship Central: 'There's a real need to train worship leaders spiritually, practically and with good leadership skills. Our passion is to see the worship life of the local church around the world explode.'
These songs on the album do just that. The range is broad yet the power to connect and inspire undeniable. 'Lifting High' is a truly essential resource, from classics sung around the world such as 'Happy Day' to five new recordings, including Brenton Brown's 'Adoration' and 'Glory In The Highest,' by Al Gordon and Luke Hellebronth.
The back story to Worship Central is worth a read (worshipcentral.org) Tim and Al write:
'Since launching in 2006, over 75,000 people have attended Worship Central events across the globe, from California to Hong Kong. These gatherings of worship leaders, musicians and worshippers have been amazing moments of encounter: people of all denominations, generations and nations joining as one in lifting high the name of Jesus. We are excited to bring together this new collection of songs, some having been recorded for the first time. We hope they're helpful in encouraging and inspiring worship in your local church."
With the additional support that an eight-date UK tour accompanying the album's launch will offer, 'Lifting High' will be one of the year's most anticipated – and long lasting – releases.
Worship Central is heading out on the road across the UK this Autumn, for a series of events in eight cities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. With loads of space for extended times of worship, teaching and ministry. Hosted by Tim Hughes & Al Gordon, who are joined by Ben Cantelon & Nikki Fletcher. The dates are as follows:
