I loved playing the music of Mississipi John Hurt, it was some of my favorite part of Ben's repetoire. I am still curious as to how he developed a style that was so different from the playing of the guitarist that he would have heard in his part of the country. I love how it swings, in it's own gentle and joyful way. It is both, full of energy and very relaxed. When Carl Sagan was choosing those clips of recorded sounds of humanity, to send out into the depths of space, he would have done well to have chosen anything recorded by Mississippi J.H.
