If Woody G. and his pals ever hung out with Gary Davis it was almost certainly when they were all in New York City. I believe it was in the sixties.
I had the privilige of playing the Kent State University Folk Festival in 1971. Gary Davis was the main attraction and I sat next to him at a guitar workshop he gave. To say hen blew us all away was an understatement. He was very generous with his knowledge. He was also quite conscious of his abilities and understood quite well who were the students and who the teacher. I'm pretty certain he was no different even with Woody Guthrie.
