It is almost impossible to get gigs for the band. But I also play solo acoustic blues (and other stuff)and there is allot of demand for it. Especially if you're willing to play "open mic" nights for free. In virtually any town in England you could play every night, sometimes paid, sometimes not. I'm working up my set and performance, towards a time when I can do it professionaly. It won't be that long ... --Previous Message--

Firstly, hello from England
:
: --Previous Message--
: I've recently moved to small-town America
: (and
: will never again go near a large metro if I
: can help it) and while I've been able to
: make a respectable living here teaching
: fingerstyle guitar I've found it absolutely
: impossible to do any gigging. Bands do all
: right, but there seems to be no room for, or
: interest in, solo performers. Any thoughts
: on how to break this barrier?
:
: Yea I had some truoble starting to find gigs
: myself when i first moved to a small town in
: Ohio was a pain but it got easy once i was
: knowtised playin at my buddies house just
: chillin outside some guys came up and asked
: me to play at this local bar and from there
: the gigs just kept coming. I make an honest
: living off the gigs themsleves but im also
: in the army and just got back home. My
: thought is just get knowtised or stop by
: your local bars and ask for some play time
: for free at first then you can work in the
: money.
