: Does anyone know what tunings Joe Callicott
: uses on "You Don't Know My Mind,"
: "Fare Thee Well Blues" or
: "Roll and Tumble"? Great, great CD,
: by the way, if you've never heard it
: (fingerstyle acoustic, very MJHurt-like).
: Thanks,
: John
Took me a little while to figure out which tune was "You Don't Know My Mind", since it's called "Laughing to Keep From Crying" on the CD. It's in G, standard tuning, "Fare Thee Well" is in D, standard tuning, and "Roll and Tumble" is in Open G (though tuned low, I believe). I agree with you, it is a beautiful recording, and I particularly like Joe Callicott's singing. His version of "frankie and Albert" is great.
all best,
John
