A wonderful guitarist, remarkable for his age; very nice man, adorable guy. I hired him for a college concert in 1972 or so. Sucked back baking soda, with a water chaser a lot. Died from stomach cancer the next year or so. Low and Lonesome was my favorite. Too bad they're not in CD format.

: I just happened on a link to Bill Williams.
: I
: had not heard of him. I believe he was born
: in 1908 and not 'discovered' until 1970 or
: so. Apparently, he was considered one of the
: very best traditional country blues guitar
: players in the country.
: Here's the link:
: He recorded on Blue Goose.
: Question to anyone who knows his recordings:
: Which ones should I buy?
: Also, the web site is pretty extensive, but
: any other informatin out there.
: Thanks

: Hi,
: Bill Williams was a great guitarist with a
: really slippery style. As far as I know,
: none of his recordings are currently
: available in CD format, and his two Blue
: Goose albums, "Low and Lonesome"
: "The Late Bill Williams-Blues, Rags,
: and Ballads", have long been out of
: print. Should you be able to find the
: records on e-Bay or in a used record store,
: they are both excellent, but I prefer
: "Low and Lonesome".
: All best,
: John Miller
:
: Would anyone out there be willing to make a
: copy of either Bill Williams recordings?
: Happy to pay. Would like CD format but I
: could have it converted.
: Thanks
