Posted by John Pappajohn Helena, Arkansas is also a great stop -- although it's not Mississippi, it IS the Delta, and it is a very historic blues town. Stop by Cherry St., where you will find Morris Gist's music store -- Mr. Gist was Sonny Boy Williamson's LANDLORD!, and has lots of neat stories. Also check out Bubba's record store on the corner -- he gives out free bumper stickers. But the most important stop is the Delta Cultural Center, and KFFA radio, where the legendary program King Biscuit Time broadcasts from (1360 AM at 12:15 every weekday). 'Sunshine' Sonny Payne has been the host since 1953, and one of the coolest people you will ever meet in this world. Sonny is one of our national treasures. He knew Muddy, Sonny Boy, and all the post-War greats, and he treats everyone the same, whether they're blues royalty, or fans who walk in the front door, or obscure performers like me. Man, I wish I was on Cherry St. right now. HAVE FUN! John
