manicurist wants to remove and start over-

Have been getting my nails done for a few years. I go in and ask for a fill-in. Only a couple times when there was separation did they remove and start all over. Recently started going to a new nail salon and this guy wants to remove all my fill-ins and start all over. He calls it "poolsec" (not correct spelling).
Is this neccesary?
