Thank you, Ari, for a Wonderful night of great music. Thanx for playing "Tootie Blues" and "Dying Bed", and thanx for putting up with my joke about "Stairway to Heaven".
"Dying Bed" simply blew me away, the first time I heard you play it, at a bar on Bleeker St., years ago, so much so that I dug the original Josh White recording out of the library. Another great song, on that 1940s CD is "Motherless Children", also, I suspect, in Open C. I'd love to hear you play that one too. There must be more very early Josh White music that is worth learning and playing today... He was lead boy to some of the Greats.
I found out, that the reason he tuned down so low, was because he had Psoriasis, and playing tore up his fingers so badly, that he would bleed.
David was very pleased to meet you, and he also enjoyed your playing tremendously. He will be performing at the GCH on Feb. 5, if you would like to come and hear him. Ernie Hawkins, Stefan Grossman and Woody Mann are also on the calendar.
I look forward to seeing you at the GCH next year.
