Re: Blues encyclopedia?

Perhaps the word "encyclopedia" is rather deceiving (although there are many books out there with "blues encyclopedia" in the title). I was thinking more of the Penguin guide to blues recordings by Tony Russell, All music guide to the blues: the definitive guide to the blues by V. Bogdanov or Rough guide to the blues by Greg Ward. I believe these books (and others like them) contain small essays on the artists. It may look as if I am answering my own question, but I only know of these titles I haven't read them. I was looking for someone (I am assuming a certain amount of knowledge on the subject) from this board, who may be familiar with some of these titles and would be willing to make a recommendation or otherwise.
: I've never actually heard of a "Blues
: Encyclopedia", but I highly recommend
: the following books from 10-12 years
: ago..."Nothing But The Blues" by
: Lawrence Cohn, and "Blues Odyssey"
: by Bill Wyman. Some older books are the
: classics "Deep Blues" by Robert
: Palmer, "The Story of the Blues"
: and "Blues Off the Record" both by
: Paul Oliver. All are great reading. If such
: an encyclopedia does exist I would get it
: for sure.

: I'm looking for recommendations for a good
: definitive blues encyclopedia. There are
: several out there, but ascertaining their
: worth is difficult.
