Unfortunately, I don't have tab for "I'm Throwin' Up My Hand", but I can tell you that you've got the right tuning and position. The tune is from Rev. Gary Davis, and I heard his recording of it from 1935.
I don't use it myself, but there is now software that slows down recordings without altering their pitch.
Thanks for posting. I had no idea that the song was going to be so meaningful to anyone that night (or any other night)!
: Ari, I saw you warm up for Doc Watson in
: Philly, back in '86 or '87, I guess it was.
: That was the first time I saw you play. I
: didn't want to go out that night, I was in a
: very dark and gloomy place. But my friends
: made me come out, and I am so very glad they
: See, the wife had just taken the kids and
: run off with the best friend, and I was
: having a very hard time with that. If you've
: ever been there, then you probably know
: exactly what "I'm goin away; wear you
: off my mind" and "wringin' my
: hands and cryin'" is all about.
: No performance of any song had ever moved me
: so deeply, then or since.
: Needless to say I bought the album. And I've
: been, uhhh... well, 'studying' is probably
: not the best word to use, but I have been
: working from time to time on "What's
: The Matter With The Mill" and
: "Racketeer's Blues" and I've
: snitched a lick or two from "Hard Road
: Blues", but I've decided I might be
: ready to *really* study the one song that
: ever reached out and grabbed me when I
: wasn't lookin'...
: So let me start with confirming the basics:
: Is "I'm Throwin' Up My Hand" in
: Standard Tuning, Key of B (A position, capo
: 2nd fret)?
: Is there a TAB of your arrangement in
: existence, and is there any way I can lay my
: hands on it? That song moves so fast, and an
: Ari-authored TAB would be a thing of great
: Anyway, thank you for the inspiration. And
: if you're wondering how the whole
: ex-wife/ex-bestfriend/ex-kids thing worked
: out, my daughter looked me up as soon as she
: got old enough to escape her mother's
: clutches and I now have a 3 yr old grandson
: who likes to sit in my guitar case...
: But I will never forget how your rendition
: of "I'm Throwin' Up My Hand" made
: me *understand* what the Ragtime Blues are
: made of. Thank you.
