At least now I know I am not crazy. It is a repeatable error. Use WMP and rip YDU and you will find all the info for TWNHNM will come up and gets put in "My Music". And what is ripped (and will play back) is all the songs from YDU. Wrong info, right songs. Weird huh.
I love this computer stuff but only when it works right.
: Hi Bob and Ari:
: Since I have both of Ari's CDs at hand, I
: thought that I'd see if I could find out
: anything that might be helpful by doing a
: little experimenting.
: I opened Windows Media Player and put in the
: YDU CD. As Bob mentioned, the info for
: TWNHNM came up. When I put in TWNHNM CD, the
: info for TWNHNM came up.
: Then I went to iTunes which uses a different
: database (Gracenote, I believe). The correct
: album title and tracks came up for the
: respective CDs.
: Then I put both CDs in my Sony RCD-W500C CD
: player which displays title and track info
: for CDs that include title and track info.
: It didn't display any title or track info
: for either CD.
: I believe that it is possible that neither
: CD includes title or track info--at least
: not in a format that my Sony player
: I think the cause of the problem is that the
: database Windows Media Player uses contains
: the wrong information for YDU. Given that
: this wrong info is for Ari's other CD adds a
: layer of confusion. If it was for an
: unrelated CD--say "The Monkees'
: Greatest Hits"--, the fact that it was
: an error would have been obvious and crystal
: So my conclusion is that an error was made
: on the WMP database end. Both CDs are okay.
: Hope this helps.
