check out stellaguitars.com He has more old Stellas for sale that any place I've seen. Even they can get a bit pricy, though...I'd stay away from the ones made after the 1940's even though they may look inexpensive to buy...they're tough to set up right and keep in tune, and sound like crap when fingerpicked, etc. but may work for slide...
also, try a search under the words 'vintage guitar' and you'll find lots of dealers with old guitars...'cept most slot heads will be really expensive, like Martins. You may want to look for a Gibson L-00 from the 30's, they can still be had for under $2K if not cosmetically clean. They have a solid peg head, but are wonderful blues fingerpicking guitars. Gibson's off-brand, Kalamazoo, was a cheap version of the L-00, and can be bought for under $1K, but are usually ladder braced and won't ring like the L-00, but I believe if was one of the guitars used by RJ...
Other good country blues guitars are Gibson L-0, made just before the L-00, and, from the 50's and 60's the Gibson LG0, LG1. Ari's played one of those for many years...I play an early '30 Gibson L-00 and an old Stella.
Where are you located?/ I can give you names of good vintage guitar shops where you could play different types of old guitars.
Good luck, and let us know how you make out...

: Folks: I'm in the market for a good blues
: guitar and was wondering if anyone has one
: for sale or has any recommendations on a
: good place to look. I'm after an early
: 1900's parlor sized guitar. Something
: along the lines of a Stella (the smaller
: sized ones), but the brand name isn't
: important at all. I'm mainly looking for a
: solid, slotted-peghead, parlor-sized
: guitar with good action. The appearance
: isn't important...I don't mind scratches,
: wear, dirt, etc...as long as it plays
: good.
: Any sugestions?
