DO2...I was where you are 20 years ago...if you want to speed your learning up to warp speed, buy some TAB/videos/tape lessons. It's essential...It really helped me figure stuff out, plus, later took lessons from Ari for a few years...but what you've realized is absolutlely correct: Most of the country blues we listen to/play is made up of basic chord progressions, but the fingering, both left and especially right hand, is what complicates things. Most would take hours and hours of listening to figure out. You'll find lots of stuff on the internet for TAB/tapes etc, plus Ari has a few himself ;-)
: : I love the Rev. and am trying to play his
: material but it seems he frequently uses
: chord substitutions, i.e., non-1st
: position chords (and not just barred 1st
: position chord forms either). An example
: is "I'll Be Allright Someday".
: You look at his chord progressions and it
: seems like simplicity itself (C, G, F,
: etc.) but he's often not simply doing
: standard chord forms. Does anybody have
: any info or know any source that talks
: about Davis' use of chords? Thanks much.
