...GV, just be aware that those post war Stellas (Harmonys) are totally different guitars, by a different maker, different materials, workmanship, quality etc....it's an apples/oranges situation...that's not to say you can't have fun messing around w/ a Harmony Stella, will sound good w/ a slide, but the old ones made by the Schmidt Co. pre-war are the sought-after and, now, pricey ones...keep checking ebay, a pre-war shows up every few months...good luck in your search.
: Are you suggesting that I try to have some
: patience? ;-)
: Thanks for your insight . . . I am about to
: have my first 'taste' of buying an
: inexpensive instrument and making it the
: way I want it. Found a couple of Stellas
: on eBay. They look to be early post-war
: (no truss rod) but I would prefer a
: pre-war model. So I may get lucky . . .
: not likely but for what I paid, I can
: afford to spend a little on them.
: Neil's sight is certainly the best source and
: I do continually check it. And you are
: probably right, sooner or later, he'll
: have one that strikes me and I'll snatch
: it up. I just get a little antsy every so
: often . . .
: Have a great weekend . . .
