You should be able to find a new one for under $750 which is well below list. I play mine in standard and open tunings both with slide and without . . . What I really like about it is that it is basically an all solid wood guitar (mahogany top & body, rosewood fingerboard & bridge). I swapped the nut and saddle (corian) out for bone. While it's tone is kind of unique it is very suited to type of playing in which you are interested. Good luck . . . there is nothing more fun than guitar shopping.

I've heard people knock Martins for blues, too . . . I don't pay that much attention. Certainly an old Oscar Schmidt Stella is going to give you the tone you are most likely looking for . . . but as impatient as I am and as expensive as they have gotten, I opted for a Martin 000-15S.
