Thank you again for all of your prayers and messages.
K returned to school, at least two days so far in the past week. I was very relieved to see him at school, and the next push/prayer request is to see him through the next few months so that he graduates from high school.
I attended his dad's funeral this past Saturday. It was a very moving experience to be there on many levels. One of which is that my own son lost his dad when my son was a senior in high school, just like K did.
I got to see K at the funeral, and I was very glad to see him.
At school prior to the funeral, I got to give K a special hand decorated and calligraphed certificate I made for him, letting him know what a fine man he is. I had made this certificate weeks ago. Due to seniors being on internships, I hadn't had the opportunity to give it to him.
I forget if I mentioned in my first post, that I make "good calls" home periodically about the students I teach at the high school where I work. About three weeks prior to K's dad's death, I spoke with Dad and told him what a fine young man K is. This means the world to me that I had that conversation. And K knows that I talked with his father and all the good things I told his dad.
I must admit, death is so strange. To talk with this dad on the phone, only to see him laid out in a coffin a few weeks later...
At the funeral, God gave me a big gift as I arrived to park my car prior to the funeral. There were two elderly gentlemen near where I parked. I knew they were going to attend the funeral. We began talking. I found out that one of the men was K's great grandfather.
After the service, I was outside with others, and I went up to K's great grandfather. We began talking. I told him about the conversation I had with his grandson (K's father) and the accolades I had shared about K. I was deeply touched as the great grandfather turned his head away from me as he covered his eyes with his hands. I knew his heart was warmed by what I shared.
Thanks again for all of you being there for me, and for all of us. Thanks especially to you, Christine, for your huge heart and all this huge circle of love that you nourish all around our Earth.
Love,
Linda S.
