My mother went into the hospital last Friday night. I got home from work and she had left a message to come see her in the hospital. I am not sure if you all know but I have been estranged from my mother(August would have been two years). Lots of history of me knowing that I have been treated indifferently by both my parents and all my siblings( am to this day estranged from all my siblings) and when I finally realized it(I was about 46-now 56), I broke away from all of those people who on a continuous basis ill treated me, they decided to also shun me. No biggie, no love lost. Well, my mother and I were not speaking as I had blocked her from calling my number. It was only recently (in about the last 4 weeks) that my mother started calling me at work, and we do talk. Not the greatest of relationship (as I know for sure my mother is still loving everyone but me) nonetheless a relationship.
My mother has shared with me that she lives with my younger sister, who is an alcoholic, and makes it impossible for my mother to live there. My mother tells me that my sister cooks on a Sunday and expects my mother to eat that food until the next Sunday. My mother has limited mobility so is really not able to cook for herself She does have home care in 3 times a day, but they are limited to 45 mins per visit. On Friday night while visiting my mother, my mother was either delirious, or having a nervous breakdown, and would keep repeating, please god, please god, please god, as if she knew she desperately needed help from God. She also had a nurse, who held on to my mothers hand tightly and said to her, now you find it in your heart somewhere to get through this as God wants you to live and you have beautiful kids and you find it in your heart to live. I left my mom that night(after being with her in the hospital for at least 6 hours) and was feeling sad, wondering if my mummy was on her way out.
My mummy told me of the dreams she has been having lately, and they all resembles her going home. Saturday morning I take my son to his lessons(during the time he is there, I do some grocery shopping and run some errands) as I want to have some to go home and cook then go visit my mother. I came home in the afternoon and cooked, and did not get to leave the house until 3pm Saturday to go visit my mother. Previous to this I received a phone call for a person’s Whose name I did not recognize.( I teach my children not to answer the phone unless they know the number, so I did not answer the phone.
We get to the hospital and walk in to my mothers room (she was still in emergency) so rooms are separated by those curtains. My mother was sitting on a chair doing crossword puzzles, what was different was that the curtains from the bed next door was not drawn and there was a silver haired woman on the bed next door. My first thought was that she was an angel sent here to administer something to my mother. I had brought my mother some food(curry chicken and rick and salad). She offered the silver haired woman some food but she refused. The woman so easy to talk to and if was if she had already known my mother and she talked to us like she already knew us. My mother is a constant complainer and every time my mother would complain, this silver haired woman would confidently say something to my mother and it would calm my mother down. We chatted and a few laughs was had by all(as I had two of my three children with me). My son was going to the little canteen in the hospital and I gave him some money and said, I want some ice cream please, and before you know it the silver haired woman gave $5 and we ended up spending $20.00 on ice cream and we all sat and had a ice cream party.
It was as if we were all having an picnic and we were all enjoying ourselves. I found out this silver haired woman had gone to work that morning at 9am, but had felt this sharp pain around her heart and it did not go away. She called an ambulance and came to the hospital and landed right beside my mother. We joked and said grandma found a “roomie” and they were going to be BFF’s.
The silver haired woman had to leave as she checked out to be ok and not thing serious. We left and my mother and silver haired was left in the room. So I went home thinking, what a nice woman and how lucky it was to have her as my mothers neighbour, because she sure was the best thing someone could have asked for at that time. I did not even get her name, but I do now know it because that phone call I got before visiting my mother was from silver haired woman’s phone.
Silver Haired woman said she would drop by and visit my mother yesterday, but when I was there at suppertime my mother said, silver haired woman did not show as promised. I said to my mother, I know for a fact it was an angel that god that send to you, mother, what do you think? And my mother agreed. Could silver haired woman have possibly been an angel that God had sent for my mother? I certainly do believe so, whadda ya all think?
