Yesterday, my brother, 2 of my sisters, 2 of my girl cousins and I piled into a 6-passenger vehicle and drove up to Merrimack, NH to say our goodbyes to Aunt Pat. I had some private time with Pat - her daughters, granddaughter & sister stepped away to the kitchenette - and I had a sweet visit of reflection alone with Auntie through my tears. I stroked her hair & arms & kissed her hand & forehead. She's a remarkable woman who loved entertaining our huge family, and was present for every event. She was one of the first ones to come to my home with my uncle the day Jason died. Pat's in that place now where she's non-communicative and sleeping, but I know hearing is the last sense to go. I asked her to say hello to my Jason, my Mom & Dad and my brother Stevie when she arrived in heaven.
My cousin Nicole who was born just one week before my daughter Jessica told me an interesting story while I was there. Before her mother stopped communicating, she saw a woman in her room and relayed to her daughter that the woman identified herself as her mother. But Pat told her she wasn't! Nicole looked over her shoulder and saw no one was there! Nicole's Dad thought his wife was becoming delusional! But Nicole knew better. I inquired if the woman could have been Rhonda as a grown woman but she said no because of the reference her mother made in relationship.
Love you Chris!
