Lonna,
Thank you SO much for your help! I honestly figured I was wasting my time by putting a message on this site, but I saw where you replied on the very same day!! I had actually already searched in the Archives of the Iola Register before ever giving up, but I came up with nothing! I don't know what I did differently this time (other than follow your instructions!), but there it was...plain as day! Again, thank you very much for your help with this. I'm not sure I was quite ready for such a nicely written obit, especially with it's being so detailed in the description of his life. I think I'm going to walk outside now for a breath of fresh air and a good cry! Thanks again!!

: Deb,
: Please do a search for Iola Register. Once
: you find that site go to left side of site
: and scroll down to Archives. Once there you
: can put the date you need in the box and you
: will find your dad's obit. If you have any
: problems please let me know and I'll send
: the link to you. I just think it will be
: easier this way. Also you can see that I
: have a link for the Register on my index
: page on this site. For convenience you may
: want to use it.

: Hi,
: Jim Runer was my father and he lived in
: Gas, KS. He was married to Nancy Runer. He
: had stopped having any kind of contact with
: me (except on very rare occasions) some 20
: yrs. ago. He died in Sept. 2011 (I don't
: even know for sure what day), but I cannot
: find ANYTHING in a newspaper from Allen
: County, Iola, or Gas, Kansas such as an
: obituary. I would really like to have one,
: simply for my albums/scrapbook. If anyone
: can help me out, I would greatly appreciate
: it.
: Thank you,
: Debi Runer Box

Our Allen County Kansas ancestors are the backbone of who we are and where we came from. Their struggle and tenacity to better their lives continues in us today. Honor each ancestor on these pages of Allen County with stories about them, and let's help each other in our genealogical study of people and the history they made.
