I just moved to Sydney 2 months ago and thought that since I used CitiBank in NY I would have no issues here. I tried to deposit a check into my account and was told I could not, the accounts are not linked for deposits. I was in shock! I thought Citibank was global! I had to open a seperate AUS bank account that does not mix with my NYC account. Bummer! Best of luck!
