How about Waverly, Queens Park, or Bondi Junction: all fairly trendy, near the city and the TRAIN (you don't want to be waiting around for Sydney buses!) and a hop skip and jump to the Eastern Suburbs beaches for your husband.

: I'm from the US but have been living in London
: for five years. My (English) husband and I
: are moving to Sydney in January (I'm looking
: forward to the weather!) We are thinking of
: living in Double Bay. Would you recommend
: this as a good place to live? Shockingly
: for an American, I don't know how to drive,
: so I would like some place ideally where I
: can travel around by public transport. My
: husband wants to be near a beach and I want
: to be in the city so we thought this was a
: good compromise. Any advice you could give
: would be much appreciated! Thank you.
