San Francisco is amazing, you will love it. I don't know of any Aussie banks, but I know that Citibank is here and also in San Fran. Banks in America don't charge the miriad of fees that you get here, so that is one thing you will be pleasantly surprised about. The city has newly moved to San Francisco organisations you can try out, and is similar to Sydney where most people are not from there. Should be very easy to meet people. Best wishes!
