Hi Cass,
Do you want to live in SF or outside? How much do you want to pay for rent and are you planning on living buy yourself and getting flatmates? Where in SF will you be working? My favorite places in SF to live are Noe Valley, Mission, Castro, Fillmore, or the Haight (they are alot more laid back with bars and restaurants) For places with a view Nob Hill and the Marina are nice but pricier. Just to get a better on idea of what to expect on rent, etc ...look on craigslist. I found my flat and flatmates in SF with craigslist and we are still friends to this very day!
