Hi,
I have been reading that next year, many States will have to comply with Dept of Homeland Security laws with regard to driver's license renewals. Apparently, mail or online renewals may no longer be possible as positive ID and documents such as birth certificates, social security cards etc will need to be presented in order to prove residency in a State.
Also, a Real ID card may also require this level of verification so it is currently unclear how that will affect overseas US citizens, particularly those of us not intending to reside in the US again. Maybe we don't get one.
Anybody heard any info?
