Possible move to Sydney

Hi,

I have been contacted by a firm in Sydney that is in need of people with some technical certifications I have. I am looking for some advice on the whole interview / relocation process. Can this all be done via telephone or is it recommended to make a visit to the company prior to agreeing on a position? Is there a norm?
Is there a guideline or calculation as far as salary equivalency. I currently live in Tampa, Fl.
