Hi Sonia. We decided to send our boys to the local public school for a number of reasons. First of all, we wanted them to meet and make friends with the local kids. It makes playdates much more convenient. We also wanted them to learn about Australia and its culture. We feel it's part of the whole experience of living here. They've made some great friends here and we have as well through the school. We've recently had some major health issues with one of the boys, and the school community has been really supportive and helpful. The education they're receiving is excellent, and certainly on par with elementary school in the US. I love the fact that art and music is a big part of the educational experience here, where I know it's being dropped through spending cuts at a lot of US schools. I would advocate sending your daughter to an Aussie public school, but you obviously have to do what works for you.
Feel free to email me if you want to "talk" further about it.

: My daughter will be starting kindergarten next
: year. If we send her to an Aussie public
: school, it will be in January. If we send
: her to the American-Int'l school, it will be
: in July.

: All that aside, does anyone have any
: opinions or ideas on the pros and cons of
: American vs. Australian education? We will
: be in Australia 2-4 years and then will be
: relocating back the US.

: Thanks.
