If you are bottle feeding, you can take liquids with you so long as you have a note from the doctor in the specificed amount. We had a letter from the Dr for I think 300 mL of whatever- and one of our containers was 350 mL, had to chuck the 350 mL, but the 300's and under were fine. So get a very specific letter from the doctor, or just bring the mix to made it on the plane.

: I think as long as your baby is healthy and
: you get the ok from your dr it should be
: fine. I have a few friends that flew long
: flights with newborns (4-6 weeks old) with
: no problems. I think my son had a standard
: health check at 6 weeks; maybe you’d want to
: travel after that. It usually takes a few
: weeks for the baby’s passport to get
: processed, anyway. I think it’s easier when
: they are smaller because they sleep a lot
: and they haven’t started solid food yet. We
: took our son on his first flight when he was
: 3 months old (only a 3-hour flight) and it
: was easy. Make sure you breast/bottle feed
: or give a dummy on take off & landing to
: prevent their ears from popping. I recommend
: requesting/booking the bassinet. Even though
: they are quite small, it’s nice to have your
: hands free for at least part of the flight.

: I was wondering when many of you flew with
: young children, as young as newborn?
:
: Thanks

: Yes, we flew with both our daughters from
: the age of 6 weeks on our first which was a
: flight from PA to IL and then when she was 3
: months we made the first of many trips
: Internationally to Australia. Children take
: their lead from you. I think if you go
: prepared, then you will be just fine.
: Nevermind the nay-sayers...they're
: everywhere! Travleling from the time they
: were infants have made them much better
: travellers than some adults we know! I know
: that it is more difficult these days with
: the airline requirements on liquids, etc.
: but as long as you are prepared and you know
: what the airline will allow, you will do
: fine! I think when they are smaller the
: better because they do sleep quite a bit!
: The bassinet is a godsend on the
: International flights and worth the extra
: $200 or so to have. Good luck...you will do
: great!
