There are actually agents that will assist you in the search and purchase for a new home. They are called buyer's agents - they aren't as prevalent here as they are in the US. Just do a google search and I'm sure you can find some. If you go onto the real estate sites, they usually have a description of the suburbs. If you're not in a huge rush I would suggest just starting to look around at houses in different suburbs and start getting to know different agents - once you find the area you like you can then start speaking to the agents that specialise in those areas. Also, you may have already notice that houses here tend to be sold by Auction - buyer's agents can help you with this process and even bid on your behalf. However, it has been my experience (working in real estate) that buyers who use a buyer's agent tend to pay more than what a buyer off the street would. On the other hand, if you have no idea about the area, pricing, purchasing process etc it would probably be worth it to have the experience of a buyer's agent on your side. Either way do your research and you will be fine.

: My husband, myself & our two kids will be
