Redlands has a good IB program , problem may be getting into it. There is another school that does IBm but cant remember it, may only be the US intl school. if you cant get into redlands they may be able to refer you. Or your relo consultant should know. Yes once your child graduates IB or grade 12 here they will have to wait the 6 months if they are going to go to a US uni. 6 month holiday....
as far as your other kids, there is no set way they assign kids a grade. When we moved our son was ahead in most areas like math, etc we reviewed the cirriculum and we picked to move him ahead, so he skipped 1/2 of 8th grade here and move right into 9th. dont forget they dont do US history and english is different than the US schools.
they all also need to wear uniform , thats in all grades. Our daughter went to redlands, didnt like it and ended up in the US intl school , graduated in a class of 5 seniors. Then went off to the US for uni. Our son did the IB and stayed here for his uni, since all his friends were here.
good luck

: We are looking at a potential move to Sydney
: from Dubai. My 3 children are enrolled in an
: American school here.
: My daughter will have 2 years of high school
: to finish, so I want to find a school with
: an IB program and an expat community.
: American International School seems too
: small (only 6 graduating seniors last
: year?), and I have looked at Redlands on
: line.
: Can anyone please share their experiences
: with their High school aged children at
: these schools, or offer other school
: suggestions?
: (I also have 8 and 12 yr old boys to place.)
: I am confused about what grade children are
: placed in if they start school in July- if
: my high schooler has finished 10th grade,
: would she repeat 1/2 of 10th grade or only
: get 1/2 of 11th grade?
: Also, what do graduating seniors do as far
: as beginning university in the US- wait six
: months?
: many thanks!
