I'd say the best starting place in the immigration department website: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/index.htm
Be forewarned, it can now take a while for US approvals as you may need to do an FBI clearance to show you aren't an American criminal. Mine took roughly 17 weeks to get processed.
