Hi,
Gongratulations all expecting. Big thing to be careful with, do not use an American car seat in Australia. Even though it could be a $400 car seat and one of the best on the market in the USA, you will not be covered by car insurance should anything, Lord Forbid, happen and you are in an accident with the baby in the car. Don't mean to sound morbid, but we were using our USA car seat, which I felt was better than the Australian ones and were told that it's against the law and if I am involved, even in a minor accident where I am not at fault, it does not cover the child. So tempting as it is for someone to bring one over for you when they visit, best to not go down that road. They can be leased from the Fitting stations at a very reasonable price.
Hope that helps
Christine

: Hi Pj,
:
: Congratulations! We are expecting our first
: one in March as well, and looking around for
: the same things. We have found things here
: to be a bit more expensive in the U.S. I
: have searching places that do baby
: registries, which surprisingly was
: difficult. However, Babies Galore does do
: an online registry, but it seems the online
: products are limited. However, family and
: friends can purchase gift vouchers for you
: to use in the stores. The online babies
: galore does allow overseas persons to
: purchase things online which is great.
: However, you cannot create a registry at the
: store...if you do you need to speak to the
: manager and they require a fax, driver's
: license, credit card info which is a pain
: for someone buying a gift for you! We are
: thinking of the doing the online babies
: galore. Feel free to email me if you any
: questions. Since we are here for a limited
: time, we are hiring a travel system (baby
: carrier and pram).

: Hi,
:
: We're expecting our first one in March.
: 1) Let us know if you have those large baby
: items for sale--crib, car seat, stroller,
: playpen, etc.
: 2) What are your recommendations for baby
: stores to purchase items? e.g., this weekend
: we found Babies R Us and Baby Co in
: Bankstown. (just browsed)
: 3) What are your recommendations for a baby
: registry that works for family in the US?
: e.g., Babies R Us Australia is not online
: and can't take credit cards over the phone.
:
: Thanks,
: pj
