Thanks for your response, Tami!
I believe that visa is going to be the best option for me. I have done heaps of research since my post and talked to some friends in Sydney. And everything points to getting into the country and then looking for a job. Let's just hope there are still jobs out there. But thank you again and take care!

: Hi Kate,
: You may not need to get sponsored. I have
: seen an influx of young Americans coming
: here on work visas that allow them to search
: for a job when they arrive, which HAS to be
: easier than doing it from the US. Here is a
: link which will help you:
: It says the visa only costs $180, and you
: can stay for a year. You can work for the
: whole time but not for more than 6 months
: for any one employer. Obviously it is not as
: good as being sponsored, but that would be
: rare for a recent grad in a global recession
: anyway. This visa will allow you to try it
: out, get your foot in the door with a few
: places and then hopefully get someone to
: sponsor you after they have seen you in
: action!
: Good luck!

: Hello,
: I am looking for an employer to sponsor me.
: I have been searching for ways to get a job
: and potential career in Australia. This is
: has been a difficult task for me since I
: don't have a visa. I am going to graduate
: with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in
: May. My job search began in January since I
: wanted to put as much time into searching
: for jobs in Sydney. I studied abroad at
: Macquarie Uni, Sydney, and even returned
: since studying there. I love the culture,
: city, people of Australia. This is my plead
: for any information or references to help my
: search become a reality. Thanks for your
: time and please respond with any
: information.
