Hi,
I'm echoing most others here. Eastern Suburbs/North Shore = Great Public Grammer schools and high schools. They are safe and reach very high standards at state level. Inner West is great, trendy etc, but The high Schools are not as safe as you would find in the East or North. They have a very high ESL population and teachers time seems to be taken up by this in the classrooms. I am not familiar with the South at all, but no one I really know ventures down that way. Killara and Cherrybrook have good schools, but not much of a social environment. If you like the Cafe/Park/Market/Art scenes for you and the kids, the Eastern Suburbs and Lower North shore are the way to go. Hope these comments came out ok. It's taken a while to get use to the areas again.
Regards
Christine

: Yet another person seeking advice on where in
: Sydney to live! I am married with three
: kids: School years 7, 2, and 1. They're very
: bright, so we'll be applying to selective
: high schools, but knowing that's far from
: certain, we need to live where we're
: guaranteed a catchment for an excellent
: comprehensive state high school. So far our
: front-runners are Killara and Cherrybrook.
: Any advice, pro or con, on those? Any other
: suggestions? Those are as far as I want to
: be from the CBD (50 minutes or so).
:
: Also, if anyone has an inside line on a
: house rental, please let me know; we'll need
: a 4-bedroom, or possibly a 3-bedroom if it
: was otherwise perfect.
:
: We've lived in the States our entire lives,
: so we're very excited but a little
: overwhelmed!
:
: Thanks!
