Hi,
I'm from San Francisco and my husband is Australian. I've been living in Sydney for 8 and a half years. It really is an adjustment and I understand how hard it is. It took me years to adjust but it was more about me having to accept that I was here and not at home and that this place is different but sometimes different things can be good too. It helps to have access to American things like food, TV shows, even to hear American accents in person. I've just opened an American-style bakery in Newtown and I have Americans come by everyday to have some traditional sweets and chat. You guys are welcome to come by. I am also doing NY style bagels or at least closer to that style than any Australian can get. If you're in Sydney, you can come by. The shop is located at 482 King Street Newtown. It is called Buppa's Bakehouse.
