Hi James,
Have you found the information you are looking for in regard to TFB?
If not- you didn't mention where you are located, or what information you have to date, so I don't know if my advice is useless or not. The National Library of Australia has a number of births, deaths and marriages records, but you would need to go there in person to search the microfiche by hand. You can hire someone to do this- but it might be expensive- most researchers charge $40/hour, if not more.
I did a quick search on the NSW BDR site and found him- http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/IndexSearch?form=IndexingSearch&SessionID=18428098&sname=Buckley&gname=Thomas&fname=&mname=&event=deaths&frange=1937&trange=1937&place=&x=45&y=7
An official copy of his death certificate usually costs about $15-40 through a service (same as what you get on the link on the pages, but cheaper). The official doc would have much more than the e-info- usually would include details on his spouse (if he had one) and his occupation, as well as any potential children or who inherited his money or war medals. There are a couple of services that do the research and find the death cert for you, but it would be hard copy only. Let me know if you would like me to send you contact info for one of these places in NSW.
If TFB ever became a citizen, and therefore voted, you can also check voter registry- there a few genealogical places in Sydney as well as the State Library of NSW that have voter registries, but you would need to search by municipality then by individual name. These cards would also have employment, former employment and spouse information- and sometimes past addresses.
I also did a quick search on the Nation Archives directory and found a woman named Elsie Buckley with some ties to a Thomas Buckley- perhaps her father? Her DOB is 11 March 1927, so may be no relation. It may be of interest to you that it is certain through this search that he did NOT serve in the Australian forces.
Let me know if this was at all helpful-
Sherrie
