Why join the American Society?
Perhaps you’re wondering why you should be a member of the American Society.
Maybe you’ve been to a couple of events, perhaps drinks at the American Club or the 4th of July picnic but haven’t yet decided to join and experience all the benefits of becoming a member of the American Society?

Why wait any longer to join- you already know that the events are fun and a great opportunity to meet fellow expats! But did you know by joining the American Society you get discounts on the price of all events and invites to special members-only events like Christmas Drinks at the Consulate?
Not only that but for just $70 a year you can plug into a supportive community of diverse people who can help make life away from home easier! Regardless of whether you have been here for two weeks or two decades, you can network with people from all walks of life.
Looking for a new job? Come and network with American Society members who are Directors, CEOs, Students, Recruiters, lawyers, and business people from a range of industries and skillsets. Gain valuable insights from people who know the Australian job market or give advice to new arrivals.
Looking for a new fridge? Check out our members only message board- there are almost weekly moving sales as people move in and out of town. Members can post announcements of what they are selling or looking to buy for free!
Looking for someone to sail with or an excuse to try a new restaurant? The American Society offers a variety of events all over Sydney, find about them all in the monthly newsletter for members only. From book clubs to dinner dates, drinks’ nights and DIY fun, the American Society newsletter can tell you what’s going on!
Or are you just looking for someone to have a coffee and a chat? Our area reps are great for introducing you to a new neighbor- we have reps all of the city- North, South, East and West who can show you where to get great Mexican food in your neighborhood or help you get settled in your new house- whether you’ve moved across the Pacific or just across the bridge
The American Society is here for you- whether you want to attend events every week or just once a twice a year- but becoming a member is the best option for participating in events.
