Auxiliary "To Do"

Hi! First all, many thanks for an excellent website. I and many colleagues (based in Barcelona) of mine use it frequently! Just one suggestion, as I have not been teaching that long I have no idea of why we use the auxiliary verb "to do". I have searched many sites and have yet to find a good enough explanation of why. I have a beginner class and so far I have managed to avoid the subject but I donŽt think that IŽll be able to keep it up for much longer! Do you have an exercises and explanations of why?
