Come, let us reason together.
Posted by Sphere on 11/19/2001, 8:52 pm To tell the truth there are so many "Whys?". Why?, Why?, Why?. Why is Myanmar's inflation shooting up?. Why is the "unofficial" exchange rate is now 800Kyats to one US dollar and still rising. Why is ordinary peoples of Myanmar is suffering?. Why is the building of Democratic reform is so slow?. These are just a few whys?. United States House of Representatives already passes a resolution concerning with Myanmar on November 14, 2001. Strategist P.S. By the way "spdc" (Snail Paced Dialogue Continues)
"IF", a big "IF" Democratic Activists and SPDC care about the people more about the people rather than their egos and pride then why is the country is in stagnation?. Why is Myanmar people suffering?. Remember, countries like Thailand, Singapore just to name a few are way behind "Burma" (in the 1950s) Singapore even admit they copy Burma's methods (in the 50s) to improve their country. Why is "Myanmar" (in the 1990s) way behind Thailand and Singapore now?. Why is it going backwards instead of forwards?. There is something seriously wrong. Don't you think so?. Most of the Asian countries that is behind "Burma" (Old name)is now way ahead of "Myanmar" (New name). I'm not saying Myanmar is not improving at all but the pace compare to other "Asian" countries, let alone western countries is way too slow.
Here is the quote from US Department of State website. Quote " The House of Representatives passes a resolution November 14 that commends Burmese opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and calls upon the Rangoon regime to desist from its human rights abuses and to respect the democratic will of the Burmese people" end quote. The house passed this resolution with 420 to 0 vote, which is a unanimous vote!. See, I was thinking right about negative impact on Myanmar by slowing "Democratization". The longer it takes the longer people will suffer.
