Posted by Kyaw Myaing on 3/10/2002, 5:12 pm My comments on this matter is as follows. We all know that the "secret talks" are going on between the SPDC and the NLD. It is important that this process is not disturbed as only a sustained movement towards a representative form of government can solve all the problems of the country in the long run. What we are seeing now is exactly what we have seen in other coutries (i.e. Philippines with Marcos, Indonesia with Suharto, Yogoslavia with Tito and the USSR with Gorbachov). I only hope that truth, compassion and wisdom will prevail and that the suffering of the people will not be made worse. They have suffered enough and waited enough for a chance to live normal lives. All they ask is to have a chance to choose their own leaders in fairness and justice. People will come and people will go but the interest of the people should never be forgotten. There is an old saying: "Stars blaze forth the fall of kings" "Sabbe sankara annicca" = all conditioned thinks are impermanent. Regards and metta, Kyaw Myaing
