Do you have any idea where Gerard Sampson came from? I have a Simon Groves Sampson came to Tasmania in 1828 and was a chief constable at Campbelltown until 1833 when he disappeared. I descend from his son George Sampson who went to NZ and stayed there. I have only recently found that Simon's father was Gerard Sampson and his mother Elizabeth Groves from Dorset and Somerset. There are a number of Gerard's in the family as Gerard's parents were William Sampson and Elizabeth Gerard.
