I know I am not in the correct Dobbs family but I started researching about a yr and half ago. I went to the Mormon Church here in this small town I now live in in Ca but I am originally from okla. I do not belong to the Mormon religion tho. My Joseph Dobbs was born in Kentucy in 1820 death unk and spouse Sarah Ann Huckaby born in Tenn and death unk. They are together in a 1860 census in Prairie, Carroll, Arkansas with all their children. One of their daughters was my G Grandmother Caroline Elizabeth Dobbs 1845 in Mo and death in 1906 and she married James Jim Smith. I found Joseph Dobbs with a 2nd spouse Laura Marcus in 1879 in Crawford Ark and he listed his parents were from NC. The first spouse must have died by then and this 2nd spouse either died or divorced because the next yr on a 1880 census he was living with a sm family at Richland, Crawford, Arkansas and doing farm labor no spouse listed. His marriage in 1879 in Crawford, Arkansas he was 59 and she 54. I would like to know the names of Joseph Dobbs parents born in NC. He and his spouse Sarah Ann Huckaby have been intertwined with another Joseph Dobbs, Joseph Jasper Dobbs or Jasper Dobbs all three names are his and he was born 29 Feb 1824 Cherokee Georgis and death 11 Dec 1901 Cherokee Georgia. His spouse Malissa M Tippen born 19 May 1822 in Pendleton, Anderson, South Carolina and death 11 May 1908 in Cherokee Georgia. Both set of children are always with the correct mother but the mens names and dates are as mixed as you can imagine the mix could be and sometimes one correct Joseph Dobbs and dates may be with the wrong spouse are he may be with both spouse as 1st and 2nd spouse and one place he, which ever way the Joseph Dobbs is listed and a 3rd spouse all 3 on the same page. Lucy Dobbs the 3rd spouse was born in 1783 and her 3 children born 1809, 1819, and 1820. I did find just a few days ago and I haven't had time to look it over but a Lucy Dobbs' father was Chesley Dobbs and she was married a 2nd time to a Joseph Dobbs b 1800 and there is still a large age dif. I am in contact with 2 distant cousins' that are in the family of my G Grandmother Caroline Elizabeth Dobbs side. Their family member is a sister to my G Grandmother Caroline Elizabeth Dobbs. You might say I really don't know much about researching esp since I found this so mixed up and someone that did it I would think didn't know anything about what they were doing. If you are well advanced in this genealogy history could you email me as to what you think I should do to find my GG Grandfather Joseph Dobbs' parents born in NC and he in Ky then went on to live in Missouri and then just over into Arkansas in Prairie, Carroll, Arkansas and Richland, Crawford, Arkansas. Do you think there is a way to unmix all that I just mentioned? Thank you, Bonnie ps I appreciate it. My mother's mother died when my mother was only 5 yr's old and she didn't know much about either side of family and my mother died in 2005. Times where slow back then and no computer as you know.
