If we all could not be too rushed, or busy, or distracted, it would be a perfect world. Still her point is a wonderful one. If you find yourself "correcting" then you haven't provided enough guidance in the first place. So let us "correct" ourselves so we come to recognize when guidance is needed and before we reach the stage where we have to take the bigger, more drastic step.
Another point I'd like to make, is that the herd dynamic isn't just enforced at dinner time. Do you have a horse that is too agressive at dinner time? Reinforce your alpha horse status, quietly and firmly, at other times...groundwork, groundwork, so he'll recognize the cues for direction, before you have to result in correction. Just a thought and I think Franca's post was really well put.
