Cheryl is right about the "breaking down" problem. But when it does, the result is VERY SLIPPERY and dangerous. This even happens with expensive "Fi-Bar" . Then your only choice is to pull it out and re-do it, probably having to do so every 5-10 years.
GET SAND. I don't know where you are, but "MacAlvey's" in Martinez has an EXCELLENT (a little expensive) arena sand called Oly. The Oly sand is a (round shaped) beach sand from Santa Cruz that does not pack easily. Mix about 2/3 Oly with about 1/3 normal (square shaped) sand and you will have a lovely combination.
