... but last year my horses eyes really started to react to flys. I've had him for 16 years and never bothered with a fly mask in pasture. Both eyes got really goopy and even swollen last year before I masked him, and they improved a lot after I masked him but still weeped a bit. This year he did fine for a while and then they got all goopy and swollen again. I bought a cashel crusader and they have been great (no goop at all) ever since - even with the smoke. The cashel fits his head better than the other masks I've used, so they flys can't crawl underneath it, and it seems to give him more room to "blink".
