After seeing treeless saddles in action I don't think they work well with heavy riders and also have seen some pretty nasty accidents with them-- if the rider gets unbalanced the treeless saddle just slides over. (for people who tell me it doesn't happen, then I'm hallucinating. Twice. Three times if you count someone who is silly enough to ride a MULE in one and then post pictures of ensuing dumpage on her facebook page ![]()

Just make sure it fits well, and you can look at websites/books/etc. to learn more about saddle fit. It makes such a huge difference for a horse, and it's one thing we should all be picky about.
