For the parents of such a child - many studies of criminal behavior and development have shown that although criminals come from the full socio-economic spectrum, the single thing that seems to be in most of their backgrounds is a history of animal abuse that was not corrected. By that I mean, a lot of kids will do something mean to an animal - once. But if they are caught and taught not to do that, they will be okay. But if allowed to continue, the are seriously at risk for growing up to be pretty bad.
